Maryville Marsh Restoration with SCORE Program

This event is no longer on sale.

Wednesday May 25

9:00 AM  –  12:00 PM

In partnership with the SC Department of Natural Resources SCORE program, the South Carolina Aquarium is seeking volunteers to help restore salt marsh in an historic West Ashley neighborhood.  Volunteers will plant marsh grasses in the marsh adjacent to the neighborhood.  All supplies will be provided, just dress in clothes that can get muddy and wear close-toed shoes or mud boots, if you have them. Please bring a reusable water bottle, sunscreen, and a towel to clean yourself up before you go home. There are two planting dates to choose between for this event, May 25 and June 10. Click here to register for the June 10 event. Please note that space may be limited.

Street parking is available along the neighborhood streets.  We’ll meet and enter the marsh at 1039 Main St, Charleston, SC 29407. This work is rewarding and fun, but also labor intensive, muddy, and involves lifting up to 30 lbs. This event is recommended for ages 16 and up.
