Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Litter Sweep and Food Drive

Monday January 19

Other dates...

2:00 PM  –  4:00 PM

This litter sweep and food drive meets near the intersection of Hagood Avenue and Fishburne Street before spreading out to clean up the streetscape and edges of Gadsden Creek marsh. Free street parking is available throughout the area.

Bring a nonperishable* food item to donate, a reusable water bottle for yourself and wear closed-toe shoes or mud boots. All supplies and instructions will be provided to conduct a litter sweep with data collection. Food donations will be delivered to One80 Place, a local shelter dedicated to preventing and ending homelessness in Charleston.

We thank our community partners in this annual effort including The Citadel Near Center for Climate Studies, Kids Teaching Flood Resilience and the Charleston Area Justice Ministry.

*Recommended canned goods and other nonperishables: stock products (chicken and beef), pasta and rice (brown or white), soups, canned tuna or chicken, salad dressings, peanut butter, jelly, instant oatmeal, grits, coffee, etc.
